Offset Printing vs Digital Printing: Key Differences, Costs & Turnaround Times

The Two Pillars of Commercial Printing

One of the most frequent questions our Delhi workshop receives is: Should I print this digitally or on an offset press? The answer always comes down to quantity, turnaround urgency, and budget.

What is Digital Printing?

Digital presses print directly from computer design files using toner or liquid electrostatic ink. There are zero plate setup fees, making it cost-effective for 1 to 500 units and allowing instantaneous same-day turnaround.

What is Offset Lithography?

Offset printing uses aluminum plates to transfer ink onto a rubber blanket, then rolls it onto paper. It carries an upfront plate and calibration cost, but once configured, high-speed offset runs deliver exceptionally low cost per unit for runs of 1,000+ copies.

The Decision Rule

Need 100 corporate flyers today? Choose Digital. Need 10,000 retail product brochures with spot Pantone inks? Choose Offset.
